6 Mix launches its Pioneers Month on BBC 6 Music with an exclusive two hour set from hip hop legend Grandmaster Flash.

 

The set kicks off 6 Mix Pioneers month; a series of five programmes hosted by DJs who have pioneered a certain genre of dance music.

 

After Grandmaster Flash’s setare shows and mixes from trance pioneer Sasha; the inventor of techno, Derrick May; the French House supremo and manager of Ed Banger records Busy P, andthe electro clash queen Miss Kitten. Each show will feature the DJs talking about their life in music as well as playing a selection of their favourite old and new tunes.

 

You can hear Grandmaster Flash’s show on Friday May 3 at 10pm and it will be available online for seven days after the broadcast.

The 6 Mix is BBC 6 Music’s flagship dance programme. Since we took over production in 2008, guest hosts have included Thom Yorke, Jamie XX and Massive Attack, alongside residencies from Orbital, Andrew Weatherall, Groove Armada and Erol Alkan.
